WHO reports increase of people taking AIDS drug

On Monday, the World Health Organization (WHO) said that the number of people who are taking important AIDS drugs increased by a record of 1.2 million last 2009 to 5.2 million in total.
However, Bill Clinton said that it is still not nearly sufficient.  Moreover, according to the Geneva-based body, the number of people who are accepting a lifesaving antiretroviral medication between the year of 2003 and 2010 expanded 12 times.
Gottfried Hirnschall, the director of the WHO’s HIV/AIDS sector said that they are very happy with the increasing of AIDS drugs that help people fights to survive from AIDS. Hirnschall also saidthat this is the biggest improvement that they have seen in every year.
The Associated Press interviewed Hirnschall and said that the increase was due to get better approach to medication all over the world, most especially in sub-Saharan Africa. Hirnschall added that Africans are the most in need. However, they are also having a great number of improvements.
WHO showed the news information in the international AIDS conference in the capital of Austria and it was attended by thousands of campaigners and experts. Moreover, with the important speech of Bill Clinton recognized the increase yet put it into perspective.
According to the former president of America, five million people are undergoing on the medication rather than the times they were started treating AIDS patients. However, there are still one –third of them are in need to also be treated.
Clinton also said that they cannot go on treating those AIDS patients without funds and real changes in the way they spend it.  In the other hand, Hirnshall agreed with Clinton’s statement. Meanwhile, in the Eastern part of Europe there is symmetrical less people undergoing medications than in the other parts of the world because users of drugs are sometimes not enclosed or given enough access.
