According to the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Serena Williams is uncertain for the U.S open because she has a current foot injury.
Williams was accidentally had a cut in the right foot due to a broken glass in the restaurant where they go to celebrate after winning Wimbledon. The tour said that Williams needed to undergo surgery and she will miss the three tournaments as a key to the Open.
Andrew Walker, the tour spokesperson said on Monday that Williams is uncertain for the final Grand Slam of the year. Moreover, the return of William’s in the Open was highly awaited because of the disruptive three lose in the semi-final last 2009, when she outburst against the line judge at the last game of a match against Kim Clijsters. Williams was fined with $82,500.
Furthermore, because of the injury, Williams is already missing the whole season of the World Team Tennis with the Washington Kastles. William’s team said that she has cut at the bottom part of the foot and needs urgent surgery.
However, Williams tweeted Monday that she is doing better. In addition, Williams also tweeted on Sunday that she cannot wait to go out of bed and back on the courts to play again. Williams was rank number one when she won the fourth Wimbledon crown and another major title last July 03.
The injury happened after the game in Europe and it was first to believed that it is not that serious accident. Moreover, after the incident, Williams played at the exhibition in Brussels on July 08 against Clijsters ahead of world record tennis crowd of 35,681.
Williams consequently withdrew from forthcoming tournaments in Montreal, Istanbul and Cincinnati. The tournament in Montreal will begin in August 16 , and the U.S Open will start in August 30.
