Bob Arum says Pacquiao will fight Antonio Margarito

According to Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, Manny Pacquiao will fight Antonio Margarito on November 13.

They will fight for the vacant super welterweight championship either in Monterrey, Mexico or in Las Vegas, if Margarito can get licensed. That closes the chance of a match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, the two most famous and number one boxers in the world for 2010.

Moreover, Arum said that he come up to pick Margarito instead of Miguel Cotto because it would be sensed as a more aggressive boxing match. The boxing match will be given to HBO pay-per-view. Arum also added that Cotto was defeated and even with Emanuel Steward, Hall of Fame trainer, Arum think that people believe that it is sufficient to make variation and he is not sure that they would buy it as opposing.
Arum also added that one good thing is that Margarito and Pacquiao’s fight will be a thrilling and exciting one. In addition, Margarito knows exactly that the way to win is to fight and that is what people want to watch.

However, the controversy in Margarito’s hand-wrap is a not a minor issue. He was trapped with a hardened substance that is found in Margarito’s pad proceeding to a January 24, 2009 fight with Shane Mosley in California. Margarito was obliged to re-wrap his hands and he has been knocked out in the ninth round by Mosley.

Moreover, the California State Athletic Commission suspended Margarito last February 2009. Margarito was fought only one after the fight with Mosley and win a dull split decision over Roberto Garcia. On July 09, Margarito has applied for a license. However, the Nevada Athletic Commission tabled the issue and told Margarito to go back to California. The Nevada Athletic Commission came up with this decision because of the 4-41 vote about the licensure of Margarito.
