Anne Rice declares she is no longer a Christian


Anne Rice, the novelist, declared that she rejected the church early this year and she is no longer a Christian.

Rice wrote on her Facebook on Wednesday that in the name of Christ, she reject to be anti-feminist, she reject to be anti-gay. Rice also added that she rejects to be anti-artificial birth control and in the name of Christ she withdraws being a Christian.

In addition, Rice is much known for Interview With A Vampire and other novels that regards with gothic. She was aged 68 now and rose as Catholic. However, she renewed her faith in current years and in 2008 released the biography Called Out of Darkness: A Spiritual Confession.

Moreover, with a telephone interview on Thursday, Rice said she had been having hesitations for the last two to three years. She was anxious about the by the scandals in the church about child abuse, and the opposing reaction of the church towards the issue.

Furthermore, the ex-communication of Sister Margaret McBride, a nun and administrator of the hospitals who had allowed an abortion for a woman whose life was in danger added more doubt about Rice’s faith in Christianity.

Rice stated that she believed for a long time that the divergences and the arguments among Christians did not concern a lot for a person, that they live their life and stay out of it. However, she began to understand that it was not an easy thing to do.

Rice also said that she belongs to Democrats that encourages the legislation of health care signed into law by President Barack Obama and consider gay marriage necessarily will be allowed all throughout the country. Even though there is no longer portion of any denomination, she stays a believer and go on to read post Biblical passages and read theology.
