The spokeswoman for the district attorney said that Steven Slater, a Jet Blue flight attendant, allegedly triggered an emergency evacuation chute on a plane stopped in the airport terminal of JFK.
According to Helen Peterson of the Queen’s District Attorney’s Office, Steven Slater was under arrest at his home and accused with reckless endangerment, criminal trespass and criminal mischief.
The law enforcement source with absolute knowledge said that the incident happened just after the flight of Jet Blue landed when a traveler stood to take away a bag from the overhead case while the plane was still taxiing. Slater exchanged words with the traveler and the discussion worsen.
In addition, Slater picked up the intercom and used curses directed at the travelers. It is not clear accurately what was Slater said on the intercom. According to the source, when the Jet Blue at stopped at the gate, Slater then took some beer form the cart of beverages before positioning the emergency slide and using it to renounce the plane.
