A recent report indicated the eight lowest-paid jobs in the U.S.

A report on labor wages in the U.S. detailing the eight lowest paid worker sectors was published on Monday. This is not a good image for the richest country in the world.

The list of lowest-paying job is as follows: Fast food jobs, which are the fourth largest occupation in the country with 2.7 million workers, are paid $8.71 an hour or $18,000 annually. Mostly, this job requires only minimal education and many are working part time.

Dishwashers rank second on the list. It is estimated that there are roughly half a million who are on this kind of job. They earn $8.81 an hour. Some go into this kind of job to be able to work in restaurants or other food-service establishments. Nevada pays the highest for this kind of job at $11.29 an hour.

Third on the list are the cashiers. This job ranks number two on the list of biggest occupation with 3.3 million workers. They are paid $9.15 an hour. About half are working part time. This job can be seen everywhere from fast-food shops to clothing stores. High School diplomas, general knowledge of math, and background on checks are often required for this position.

Host and hostesses rank fourth on the list. These jobs are paid $9.23 an hour. They do not lift heavy objects as other do. They wear nice outfits, greet guest, take reservations, and sometimes act as a cashiers.

Next on the list are the amusement park attendants. Florida and California top the list of the most people employed in this profession. In California, 40,640 workers are paid $9.57 an hour. Florida, the land of Disney World with 30,410 workers pays $8.90 an hour.

Sixth are the movie theater ushers and ticket takers.  They are paid $9.43 an hour. Seventh are the farm workers which receive $9.51 an hour. Many of these workers do seasonal, strenuous and dangerous tasks. Seven out of ten farm workers are born outside of the U.S. California got the highest work force with 233,000.

Last are the personal and home cares aides. It is estimated that 630,000 people are employed in this kind of work. They earn $9.75 an hour, which has a high rate of work-related illnesses and injuries.
