The much awaited fight in boxing history between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather was in a no deal situation, Bob Arum said in his urgent press conference, 3am on Saturday.
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum delivers his bad news in a press conference he called on Saturday. He said there is no possible match to happen between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. this coming November.
The top rank said they have sent an offer to Floyd Mayweather Jr. to accept a match between him and Manny Pacquiao for November 13 boxing event. But, there is no action been received from Mayweather’s representatives with regard to their offer.
The deadline they have sent to Mayweather’s office was the end of their exclusive negotiation period for the Pacquiao-Mayweather main event.
Due to this circumstance, Bob Arum begins to work on a deal for either a fight of Pacquiao with Miguel Cotto or Antonio Margarito.
The fight of Pacquiao neither Margarito nor Cotto will create the same sizzling excitement had of the Mayweather and Pacquiao, since the latter were two of the biggest and best fighters in this boxing era.
A speculation with regard to the reason why Mayweather’s is hesitant about the offer was due to uncertainties of the case being charged to Mayweather’s uncle and trainer Roger Mayweather.
Bob Arum understands Mayweather’s situation, same with Manny that cannot make it to a fight without the help and service of Freddie Roach, Mayweather cannot make it without his primary trainer; his uncle.
It is a valid reason for him why the superfight between the two greatest boxers is still in a no deal condition.
However if the fight either Margarito or Cotto were finalized to take the match with Pacquio, the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao this 2010 will be officially shelved. But, Arum still left an open door for a possible match between th.e two this coming May 2011 if Pacquiao going to win his battle this November
