Da Vinci’s Restored Masterpiece Reveals Hidden Details

After the restoration of one of Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, the Virgin of the Rocks, the restoration project reveals some new details with regard to this genius Renaissance artist according to the British Gallery Wednesday.
At first, the researchers of the masterpiece thought that the painting was done by Leonardo da Vinci together with an assistant.
However, revelations and confirmations about the facts with regard to the painting occurred when the restoration project takes place for 18 months, involves the removal of some parts that are ruined by varnish that was spread over the painting in the year 1940’s.
The experts took a closer look at the subject and they have seen the kind of brush strokes and style used by the artist of the paintings.
The cleanup project of the painting reveals the full total scope of the entire picture, especially on the darker areas that resulted in a clearer significance about the intention of the artist on what kind of attacked and stroke he wants as his final touch to his masterpiece.
The restored picture showed series of completion in his work of art. Da Vinci was known for his eternal perfectionism. In his work, the spokesperson of the gallery Thomas Almeroth-William stated that they have thought that the artist have left his work unfinished for the reason that he wanted to go back and work to it later.
At first, researchers believed that the various degree of finish in the Virgin of the Rocks showed that the Italian artist was helped by his assistants. The painting was dated to be on work from the year 1491 to 1508 and the latest version was one on display in Louvre, Paris. The restoration project was a part of the study of the genius masterpiece.
Back in the year 2005, with the use of infrared technology, the experts have found a couple of hidden drawings underneath the surface of the painting. One of the designs was never painted, and the other one revealed that the perfectionist artist changed his mind with regard to his subjects quite a few times.
The masterpiece will be back on display on Wednesday at the National Gallery.
