IE9, Developer Tools for Windows Phone 7 Mark Week for Microsoft

The introduction of the beta version of Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) and developer tools for Windows Phone 7 marked the week for Microsoft.

According to Microsoft, two major products are unveiled last week: the beta version of Internet Explorer 9 and the final release of its Windows Phone Developer Tools. The company said that it hopes to maintain its market lead to Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox through Internet Explorer 9. Developers presume that Windows Phone Developer Tools will be used to create more applications for the upcoming Windows Phone 7 platform.

The two products introduced by Microsoft represent extensive bets for Microsoft in important areas of Web browsers and mobile phone. Microsoft is facing an uphill battle against the iPhone of Apple and Google’s Android for market share. According to the statement of Microsoft on September 15 in San Francisco, Internet Explorer 9 can provide the best performance that a lot of users can really enjoy. The company said that it will leverage both Windows 7 and HTML5 to provide faster delivery to rich contents.

According to Dean Hachamovitch, corporate vice president of Windows Internet Explorer, the web is about sites so the browser must also be about it. He said that people visit the web for sites and not for the browser and computers are for applications and not for Windows. He said that IE9 can make the websites shine by using the whole PC.

Some of the features of the new browser include the ability to tag tabs in the taskbar of Windows 7. It can be used to open websites directly without opening the browser itself. They also introduced “JumpLists”, an application that will allow the user to have an easy access to website tasks like checking and creating messages and reading update news.

Apple releases iPad in China

Apple launched the newest iPads in Shanghai and Beijing stores on Friday featuring the latest Wi-Fi version of Apple Tablet.

Furthermore, all of the authorized dealers all around China started to offer the Wi-Fi model of an Apple Tablet, millions of which have previously been sold on the other countries and particularly in the United States.

According to analyst, they expected strong demand for iPads regardless of scarcity of Chinese content and the enormous unofficial market of Apple’s products in the country, which are glided in from the United States, Singapore and Hong Kong and resold.

Moreover, in Shanghai, there are up to 200 individuals lined up outside the Apple’s underground store that was opened last July. The first buyer was Ma Ya, an art dealer, stated that he actually waited from 1:00 pm to purchase his second new iPad.

Ma told the AFP that he already had a 32 GB iPad that he purchased from Japan. He also added that maybe he can give the other one to an employee. The Wi-Fi model with 16GB charges 3,988 yuan and the 32GB costs 4,788 yuan and their 64GB Wi-Fi version is charged at 5,588 yuan.

Apple that was based in California has not declared if the 3G-equipped model will also go on sale in China, which is home not less than 420 users of Internet. On the other hand, the second biggest mobile operator in China, China Unicorn, already offers iPhone on their stores.

Microsoft Offers IE9 Beta

Microsoft offers the first beta version of Internet Explorer 9 to the public today, September 15, 2010.

Microsoft Corporation is one of the gigantic multinational companies in the Information Technology Industry. Microsoft is best known for developing, producing, manufacturing, licensing, as well as support an extensive range of services and products that dominates the computing industry.

As part of the company’s innovation, Microsoft Corporation presented the first beta version of Internet Explorer 9, which means it is not quite the final version of the said browser. The release of IE9 beta version is the company’s step to reclaim the ground they lost because of their rivals Google, Mozilla, and others.

The release of IE9 has been announced by Microsoft almost a year ago. According to the Microsoft, IE9 encompasses newer hardware acceleration, a much faster JavaScript rendering, as well as a mimic the interface that Google’s Chrome has used. As for the OS compatibility of IE9, this works great on Windows 7 where you can appreciate it to its maximum level. This also works to Vista but with fewer features. Unfortunately, IE9 was made incompatible to Windows XP, which makes millions of users left behind.

In case you are a Windows XP user and attempts to download the beta version of IE9, expect to see a message saying that you won’t be able to install and use this newly developed IE9. Also, you will be that in order to use IE9, you have no choice but to upgrade to a more recent version of Windows.

According to Gartner analyst Ray Valdes, who was present during the IE9 beta launch event, “It’s a great browser, with lots of improvements, and it will keep users who are now in the IE fold from straying further.”

Valdez also added, “But I don’t think it’s going to take share away from others. It’s not going to bring people back into the IE camp that has left.” The Gartner analyst even agreed to the idea that this is a major deficiency of IE9 strategy. It has given its competitors the chance to continuously chip away IE’s share.

Even though Microsoft has managed to persuade millions of users to upgrade to IE8, the global market share of the browser usage continuously decrease as for this year. It has fallen two percentage points as of January of this year.

Intel unveiled new Atom chips that are aimed and focused on tablets, handhelds, and embedded devices.

New Atom chips that are aimed on the consumer electronics space , and embedded markets, as well as the upcoming Dell Inspiron Duo convertible tablet were among the highlights on the second part of the Intel Developer Forum keynote Tuesday.

Just after the more general discussion about software for new devices, Doug Davis, vice president of Intel, discussed about the places consumers could go with Atom. He talked about lines of devices, all of which are powered by Atom, connected to the Internet, and are operated by a wide list of operating systems from Windows to Linux to Meego.

Davis said that Atom would now be available in five series. D would be for desktops, N for netbooks, Z for tablets and handhelds, CE for consumer electronics, and featuring the new E series for Embedded.

Intel also announces several new versions of the Atom chip for different markets. For consumer electronics and the Television market, Davis announced the CE 4200, code-named Groveland, which builds on the current Atom CE 4100 chip. The 45-nanometer device is capable of doing 2 simultaneous video streams, H.264 encoding, and comes with integrated power management. Electronic companies like Samsung, Sagemcon, ADB, and Technicolor committed to using this device for their set-top boxes.

Davis discussed about the Z6XX series issued earlier this year for handheld devices. The device is out today in devices like Aava. He also mentioned Medfield, the 32-nanometer version expected to be out next year.

Tablet momentum is ongoing with devices running Windos, Meego, and Android. Davis showed a wafer of OakTrail, the nect generation of that chip. Davis showed a quick demo of two small tablets powered by OakTrail, including one aimed at Windows gaming. The demo made the tablet look good though still needs to pass through a keen eyed professional to verify.
